Virginia Costa

Although Virginia Costa has always showed interest for art history, color pencils and art in general it was only in 2003 that she started painting.
As if running against time she now paints at least 10 hours a day.
She was born in 1955 in Barretos, state of São Paulo, Brazil.
In 2004 she did five solo exhibitions in São José dos Campos, SP and when she was selected to take part in the Second Contemporary Art Salon of the Cassiano Ricardo Foundation she knew she had made the right choice.
However, in April 2005 she had to slow down her new carrier to take care of her sick parents and their farm. Back in September 2006 she finally could finish the series of paintings depicting her last trip to England and Bahia. One of these paintings can be seen at the London Transport Museum.
Since April 2007 she has a permanent exhibition at the Pleasance Theater in London. She was also selected for the Bienal do Triângulo and one of her paintings has recently been selected to take part in the exhibition Pintores Noveles in Monte Pego, Spain.
Her paintings are bright, vivid and rich in details. They reflect her straight and down to earth personality.
